East Troy Youth Wrestling Tournament Information
The annual East Troy Youth Wrestling Tournament is our pride and joy as well as our main club fundraiser.
This annual tournament is held in January, and welcomes all children from grade levels Kindergarten through 8th grade. The tournament is arranged in a 4-man round robin style, to ensure that each child wrestles 2 or 3 matches with children close to his or her age range and skill level. All skill levels, including those who have never wrestled a match before, are encouraged to participate in this friendly and fun tournament.
This special event takes place at the East Troy High School in East Troy Wisconsin, using both full sized Gymnasiums and more mats than you can count. Registrations are done at the door, and weigh ins are in the wrestling room. A cafeteria with full concessions, including lunch items at very affordable prices, is also available all day.
The tournament is one of the most efficiently run tournaments in Wisconsin. We strive to finish the wrestling day in a reasonable and timely fashion, usually finishing before 3:30. The bracketing process and coaches meeting is completed quickly, and bracketing information is filled in efficiently by many volunteers. Other volunteers carefully organize and queue children just before their matches so that parents and coaches don't have to worry about mistakes, delays, or missed matches. Each child wrestles all of his or her own matches the same assigned mat, so there is no wondering where to run to next and no long lines of queued wrestlers.
Because of our efficiency, we are able to accommodate an unlimited number of wrestlers, and we are happy to accept walk-ins with NO pre-registration. Our system helps to ensure full brackets, without the byes that are typical from "no shows" or kids that did not "make weight".
Weather depending, this tournament generally attracts between 450-550 wrestlers. All children receive either a trophy (1st place) or a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th place medal. Hat pins are also awarded for pins.
Club parents and East Troy High School wrestlers are encouraged to volunteer to continue to make this tournament a success, year after year.
